This week we are going to be focusing on the story 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. Below are a few activities that you can do with your child based on the story.

Can you remember what the caterpillar ate? Can you write a list of the food by trying hard to segment the words and write the sounds you need?
Can you continue these repeating colour patterns on the caterpillar?
How many butterflies can you see in the garden? Talk about the life cycle of a butterfly and how they change. Can you use the following template to make a life cycle or make one yourself. The more creative the better!
Phonics - this week we will be focusing on the sound 'ir'. Explain to your child the two different ways of writing the sound ('er' and 'ir'). You can use this booklet to reinforce this new sound.

In the story the caterpillar eats different food on different days. Do you know how many days there are in a week? Can you name them in the correct order? Learn some days of the week songs and then cut and stick the days of the week in the correct order.
